RE: COVID-19 Response Plan
Dear Joplin Peace Family,
In accordance with the emergency ordinance approved by the Joplin City Council on Wednesday, March 18, Joplin Peace will suspend regular services and events at our facility. The members of the City Council voted unanimously to limit the number of people that can congregate in public places to fifty (50) in an effort to limit the spread of COVID-19. As a church family, we want to do our part to cooperate in this effort and with these restrictions. By doing so, we are not compromising the apostolic message, but we are doing what is best for both the church family and our community.
The General Superintendent of the United Pentecostal Church International, Rev. David Bernard, addressed the challenges posed by the coronavirus: many facts about the virus are still unknown, there is no vaccine, there is no cure, it is highly infectious, and the mortality rate is higher than for similar diseases. The elderly and people with pre-existing health complications are most susceptible. However, those who are low-risk can become carriers of the virus with few or no symptoms and share it unknowingly with vulnerable people. Therefore, we must take precautions not only for our own sake, but for the sake of others as well. Furthermore, we should also consider our Christian witness – we do not want to be responsible or liable for the spreading of this deathly sickness in the Joplin community. In short, we are our brother’s keeper.
This health crisis is now testing our faithfulness to God and to the church under adverse circumstances. We have an awesome opportunity to engage in one-on-one ministry to people who are searching for peace, healing, and deliverance. We also have an awesome opportunity to once again consecrate our homes as places of worship, prayer, and devotion.
In an effort to keep the church family engaged and connected, Joplin Peace will continue to host services, but instead of meeting at our facility, we will meet online. Our media team has worked diligently to set up a private YouTube channel. If you accept the invitation via text, you will receive frequent links to sermons, Bible studies, worship experiences, and other devotions. Keep in mind that these resources are tailor-made for you, members of Joplin Peace.
Please remember to frequently check the church website at www.joplinpeace.com for updates, schedules, resources, and for the PayPal giving portal where you can conveniently return your tithe and give your offering. Be assured that we are making every effort to keep our church family connected and thriving.Know God. Know Peace.
